This summer, the Okanagan experienced some of the most devastating wildfires in its region in more than 2 decades. As flames grew and spread, so did the support for our first-line responders, volunteers and residents.
Across our nation, Lift’s partners and vendors came together to reach a common goal – to give back to the community that supports Lift’s 9 BC Interior locations.
When smoke began blanketing the valley and casting a dark shadow over an ordinarily sunny Okanagan, it was immediately apparent that the wildfires had taken a turn for the worse. Headquartered in the heart of the Okanagan in Kelowna, BC, Lift Auto Group felt compelled to sound the alarm, asking its partners Canada-wide to come to the aid of its employees, family, friends, and customers.
Lift launched a fundraising campaign to encourage donations to local charities in their efforts to support those facing the heartbreaking fallout of the wildfires. In its campaign, Lift pledged to match every donation, dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000. Appealing to greater Canada, Lift hoped to achieve a total of $40,000 in donations for United Way BC, Central Okanagan Food Bank, and Salvation Army.
Garnering support from areas unaffected by the wildfires proved to be a successful strategy. The overwhelming response from partners and employees Canada-wide saw Lift quickly reach its goal of $40,000. In fact, by the end of the campaign, Lift surpassed $110,000, an amount significantly over and above anything Lift could have imagined.
