The People Have Spoken: All Aboard for Adventure with Shipwrecked Tours
The “People’s Choice Award” is a beloved highlight of the annual CSN Collision Father’s Day Car Show, where the crowd gets to decide which vehicle captures their hearts. With votes cast by spectators throughout the day, the award goes to the standout vehicle that truly resonates with the public. This year, the honour went to a vehicle that’s not just eye-catching – but promises a whole new kind of adventure.
The 2025 People’s Choice Award, proudly sponsored by Kelowna Chevrolet, was awarded to Rhett, owner of a creatively restored vintage bus – soon to be the flagship vehicle for Shipwrecked Tours Inc., a pirate-themed wine tour company launching in West Kelowna next summer.
What began as a simple purchase quickly turned into a heartfelt journey for Rhett and his wife, Amber.
“We bought this vintage beauty with a vision – to transform it into a one-of-a-kind wine tour experience in the Okanagan,” Amber shared. “I’ve always been passionate about tourism and entrepreneurship, and the moment we found this bus, it sparked a whole new adventure for both of us.”
The story behind the bus is as powerful as the vehicle itself. In 2015, Rhett suffered a traumatic brain injury, and the project of restoring the bus became more than just a hobby – it became a source of purpose and joy.
“Rhett had built a 1956 truck with his dad as a kid, and working on this bus brought back that same pride. It’s his happy place,” Amber says.
While the owner handles the business side of the operation, the bus stands as a symbol of their shared dreams and resilience. It’s more than just a vehicle; it’s a rolling tribute to family, recovery, and the magic of new beginnings.
“This award means the world to us,” Rhett adds. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who voted. This bus represents our journey, and we can’t wait to share it with the community. We hope you’ll come aboard and be part of our next chapter.”
