Cruzin for a Cause 2024
On Sunday, August 24th, 2024, a parade of vehicles cruised into the small town of Hinton, AB, for the second edition of the CSN Cascade car show, “Crusin’ for a Cause”.
In towns like Hinton, where everyone knows each other, news of a fellow townsperson facing a devastating health diagnosis or a local charity experiencing hardship affects the entire community.
Events like CSN Cascade’s Cruzin’ for a Cause symbolize the positive impact that comes from a community coming together to support one another.
Leading the way was the shop’s CRC, Theran Grinnell, with support from Assistant Location Manager, Krista Schappert and Location Manager, Keith Schappert.
The show attracted visitors from Hinton and surrounding areas to get up close to rat rods, classic cars, and custom-built vehicles. When asked about the success of the show Keith Schappert said, “It is amazing to see how surrounding communities support each other in a time of need”.
Burgers from Gus’ Pizza Place and hot dogs, courtesy of King Drugs and the Soda Shoppe fueled further fundraising and kept tired engines running. A BBQ was also provided by Napa Auto Parts with Theran’s own family members playing grill master.
While perusing the show, spectators had the opportunity to vote for their favorite vehicle. The winner, Don Spinella took home the “People’s Choice” trophy for his classy Chevrolet.
CSN Cascade is proud to share that the show raised over $5000 for Phil Morris who is currently undergoing cancer treatment. CSN Cascade is grateful to the town of Hinton and surrounding areas for coming together to provide some financial relief for Phil while he navigates the road ahead.
“I loved being able to see the community and surrounding communities such as Jasper, Grande Cache, and Edson and our team at CSN Cascade come together to help. It was a really uplifting and rewarding experience, and I think we pulled it off! I am super proud of the crew here!” says Theran Grinnell.
